• Don’t Rubbish Cheltenham is a high profile campaign, launched in May 2002 with the aim of making Cheltenham the cleanest town in Britain by the year 2005.

• The campaign is being run by the Tidy Cheltenham Group The organisers are all volunteers – many with full-time jobs.

• The need for urgent action was prompted by a council survey which showed that nearly half the population of Cheltenham were unhappy about the amount of litter and rubbish dropped in the town’s streets and parks.
